Like the car it became a status symbol for the Swedish bourgeosie that was about to be built. In fact, Sweden was the country with the largest range of radio gramophones. In 1955/56 the customer could choose among 118 different models, that were presented in the various, richly illustrated catalogues of that time. In our book we tell the story of one of the most popular sound machines of all times. From the very beginning of the first attempts to combine the radio with a gramophone, through the golden 50s and until it's end in the 60s, when the television conquered the living rooms. The book also covers the interesting history of the gramophone. Parallel to the florishing of the radio gramophone, the vinyl records came up and caused manufacturers quite some headache in the beginning of the 50s.
