  • Lyhyt kuvaus He Took Us By Storm - 25 Lost Classics from the Bob Dylan Folk Rock Revolution Era (CD) 1-CD (Digisleeve) with 48-page booklet, 25 tracks. Total playing time approx. 73 min. Never heard before CD compilation, dedicated to the charismatic musician and author who revolutionized folk and rock music like no other in the '60s and became the worldwide figurehead of a cultural upheaval in youth culture: Bob Dylan. Compiled with expertise and passion by French producer Philippe Le Bras for Bear Family Records®, this anthology features original recordings, mostly from the mid-1960s. Dylan-inspired artists such as Dion, Lou Reed, Bobby Darin, Leon Russell, David Crosby, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, Johnny Winter, David Blue and many others try to catch up with their mentor and colleague and produce songs in the idiom he pioneered. Not a single Dylan song on this album, and yet the master can be heard throughout! Foreword by the late John Sinclair, essays by Iggy Pop and Elliott Murphy, extensive liner notes and numerous rare illustrations and memorabilia in the 48-page booklet. Careful re-mastering by Peer Meyer. Bob Dylan made his mark on US pop culture in the 1960s, his songs and his charisma influenced and inspired a generation of artists who were his contemporaries, all caught up in the lyrical and musical vortex he had generated around him in '65, and continues to do so sixty years later ! Grammy® Nominee, founder of Sky Ranch records, French music producer Philippe Le Bras spent moons developing a collection on which Dylan's influence radiates on every track, although not a single cover version of his songs can be found on this album. It's quite remarkable who is here, all unknown in '65 (except for Dion & Darin): Lou Reed, Leon Russell, David Crosby, Donovan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, Bobby Darin, Tom Rush, Len Chandler, Dion, Peter La Farge, Barry McGuire, Casey Anderson, FerrĂ© Grignard, Dick Campbell, P.F. Sloan, Dean DeWolf, Johnny Winter, Billy Joe Royal, David Blue, Sammy Walker and others. Three of the 25 artists on the album debuted in the mid/late fifties, and one checked in after 1975. << Throughout, you can hear these artists trying to catch up with their peer and mentor and write songs in the idiom he had pioneered >> 'Dylan blew every one of these artists away just as he had this listener. He took us by storm!' -- John Sinclair, Detroit, April 11, 2023 'This record is living proof of his early dedicated followers. Accurate and skillfully crafted!' -- Barry Goldberg • March 2023 'The album is perfectly researched, thought-out and presented in a wise way.'-- Ben Blackwell, Third Man Records • 2023
