 When this compilation was originally released in 1962 in a faraway Japan, Richard Penniman also known as Little Richard already ranked among the greatest Rock 'n' Rollers of all time. His dynamic, extremely powerful songs, recorded for the Specialty label since the mid-50s, combined with his expressive stage show, formed one of the most important mainstays of the then still young and wild genre. After World War II, Japan, occupied by the USA, was opened to the influences of Western culture. Young people eagerly absorbed everything that flowed from America via the Pacific. This explains the large number of 10inch LPs from that era, which were especially compiled for this market and pressed in Japan.
