Making what they used to call 'outlaw' music, Michael Ballew has absolutely nothing in common with the singing Ken and Barbie dolls coming out of Nashville. This is spare, underproduced music that allows the focus to settle firmly on the songs. Thirteen titles include, Damned Old Beer, Songs On The Radio, All Alone In San Antone, and Where Are The Rangers. Michael Ballew I would like to take credit for the idea of doing this CD, but Jurgen Koop gets the pat on the back. While traveling together in Germany three years ago, he popped the idea of me going to Nashville and recording with the two Buddys: 'Emmons and Spicher'. I wanted to hear some of their work, so Jurgen played a whole pile of tapes he just happened to have, and I couldn't believe it! I had heard of them all my life, but I had no idea that they played on almost all of the music I grew up on, and loved. Needless to say, this is my very favorite project. Everyone that played on this CD joined in on the arrangements, and seemed to be happy with the songs, and the performances. A songwriter's dream - considering the people I was working with. I would like to thank everyone who gave their talent and time for the enjoyment of myself and hopefully, my fans. I can cock my hat back, point at this CD, and truthfully say - "Dig This"".
