  • Lyhyt kuvaus Argo Records was set up as a subsidiary of the Chicago, Illinois-based Chess label in December 1955. For its first two single releases in early 1956, it was called Marterry, but Italian band-leader Ralph Marterie protested so strongly that the name was swiftly changed to Argo. The label was initially known for jazz recordings by the likes of James Moody, Sonny Stitt and the Ramsey Lewis Trio, but it soon widened its horizon to embrace blues, pop and even calypso. This two-disc collection features the best of the Argo recordings between 1956 and 1962, including Etta James, Clarence 'Frogman' Henry, Mel Robbins and many more.
