- Lyhyt kuvaus 10“ vinyl – numbered, limited edition of 500 copies, with 8 page booklet. 12 tracks. Total playing time approx. 27 min. You Gotta Have A Ducktail! - Nau Voo Rockers From West Portsmouth, OH The first-ever Nau-Voo compilation on vinyl – now on Bear Family Records® Mid to late 1950s, as rockabilly exploded out of Memphis and swept across America, a remarkable yet largely overlooked chapter of the story was unfolding in West Portsmouth, Ohio. In 1958, Glenn McKinney founded Nau-Voo Records, driven by a passion for the new, hard-edged sound of rock ’n’ roll. Within just two years, McKinney produced only ten singles on his Nau-Voo and Mack labels - but those scarce releases have since become prized treasures among rockabilly collectors. At the heart of the label stood Billy Adams, born in 1940 in Red Bush, Kentucky, and raised in Greenup. Deeply influenced by the Carter Family, Hank Williams and Bill Monroe, Adams fused traditional country roots with the raw, electrifying energy of early rock ’n’ roll. For Nau-Voo he recorded songs that today rank among the finest regional rockabilly cuts of the era: That’s My Baby, The Return Of The All-American Boy and the unstoppable You Gotta Have A Ducktail - pure drive, twang and rebellion pressed into wax. But Nau-Voo offered more than just one standout artist. Deacon and The Rock & Rollers delivered the explosive rockabilly anthem Rock It On The Moon a riff-driven powerhouse capturing the untamed spirit of the late ’50s. Bobby Lawson made his mark with Baby Don’t Be That Way - pumping bass and a killer guitar break turning the track into a prime example of uncompromising 1950s rockabilly. Recorded far from the major industry hubs, these sides rival anything coming out of Memphis or Nashville at the time. With “You Gotta Have A Ducktail! - Nau Voo Rockers From West Portsmouth, OH,” Bear Family Records® proudly presents the first comprehensive Nau-Voo compilation on vinyl. Twelve killer tracks capture the essence of this short-lived but legendary independent label. This LP is more than a collection of rare singles - it’s a powerful time capsule from rockabilly’s golden era. Raw, authentic and bursting with energy, it brings the sound of Scioto County back to the turntable. An essential release for collectors, DJs and all lovers of genuine, raw and uncompromising 1950s rockabilly. First-ever Nau-Voo compilation on vinyl. 12 carefully selected killer tracks from 1958–1959. Featuring Billy Adams, Deacon & The Rock & Rollers and Bobby Lawson. Authentic regional US rockabilly beyond the major label spotlight. Premium Bear Family Records® release aimed at collectors and DJs.
